The nation was riveted to their screens yesterday as James Comey, former director of the FBI, testified on Capitol Hill about his meetings with President Trump. Americans gathered in their living rooms, workplaces, bars and coffee shops, and on the news, I even saw a yoga class watching the hearings. Not since Watergate has America seen anything like this.
We all wanted to know what went down in Comey’s conversations with Trump. What happened in their Oval Office meeting when the President kicked everyone else out of the room? Did Trump ask Comey to lay off the Russia investigation? Was Comey fired because of the Russia investigation? Was their obstruction of justice?
One thing we did learn with absolute certainty is that Russia interfered in our elections last year.
“They did it with purpose. They did it with sophistication. They did it with overwhelming technical efforts. It was an active, measured campaign driven from the top of that government,” he said. “There is no fuzz on that.”
No fuzz. Urban Dictionary jumped on that one
How about the Trump campaign colluding with Russia?
Comey would not talk about that ongoing investigation. But of his interactions with the President and his firing, Comey talked plain and simple. The President lied.
Of course, Trump says it’s Comey who’s lying.
It’s a he said-he said at the highest levels of government.
Only one of these men has a documented history of lying.
